Meet the Princess SKY…. she IS all that and then some!

This little 20lb Miniature American Shepherd is a pint sized Teen USA who can rock a fluffy coat and a bandana like no ones business! She is bougie girl for sure with her pretty blue merle coat, and her lovely heterochromia eyes… yet she comes with a tomboy attitude that includes the tenacity of a Tasmanian devil, the speed of a gazelle and the deafening howl of an air raid siren! SKY was born on 9/25/2025 and she is still ALL puppy!

SKY has a very special ability – she is DEAF. It is who she is, and she is proud of her special ability - she is amazing!  This little scholar has her hand signals (similar to ASL-American Sign Language) down to a T! Since she came to rescue – she has learned some new signals – she loves to learn! She can hear very loud noises but nothing soft. She is incredibly smart and will bond hard with her new family and will always want to be near them and with them. She is very attentive, alert and focused and she has been loved since she was born but life changes have made finding a new family a very hard decision. She wakes easily with a smile on her face and has a great sense of self, she loves sleeping by her people – touching them in some way – with a paw, her chin or a paw.

SKY has never met a stranger and views everyone (canine and human alike) as someone who she hasn’t been properly introduced to yet. So if you are new to your neighborhood, SKY will have everyone in your hood knowing you quickly… everyone will be like, “That’s Sky’s house,” “That’s Sky’s Momma,”…. We kid you not – she is incredibly charming and charismatic – hard to resist. So if you are an introvert, you won’t like this girl.

SKY is great with dogs of all sizes and ages and she will only be adopted to a home with another energetic dog (or two) that will be her playmates, her besties and a friend to help guide her.  She needs a playmate that matches her energy and loves a game of rough and tumble. She loves toys and tries very hard to get as many as she can in her mouth at one time, very unladylike but how else can she hoard them all if she has to make multiple trips?

Sky is active and will need that canine playmate, lots of activity, walks, mind stimulation and plenty of fetch – yep she fetches… and fetches… and fetches… and fetches… you will want to stop before she does. But, she will never be your off-leash hiking buddy. She loves hikes, but because she is deaf, the risk is too high that she cannot hear danger approaching so she will always have to be on leash. There are things that have to be respected when having a deaf dog in your family.

SKY is crate trained (though she doesn’t need it), house trained with a doggy door. She is incredibly food motivated (eats like an aussie!) and is eager to learn more hand signals. Her foster swears she can read her mind and anticipates her every move. As with the majority of our herding dogs, no kids under eight and as far the meow wolves go; she would probably be fine with the right introduction but it must be a strong meow wolf who can hold their own.

SKY is current on vaccinations, spayed, heartworm free and on preventative, micro chipped, wormed and ready to rumble.  If you think you can arm wrestle her foster… and win… please complete an application found on the link above ADOPTION PROCESS and submit it to info@enchantmutts.org.
