Teddy is the PERFECT name for this cute & cuddly little guy, from his big floppy feet to his soft fur and oh-so-friendly personality!
Teddy is an approximately 1 year old male Basset Hound and Australian Shepherd cross, maybe with some Corgi thrown in for good measure. His quirky good looks blend the Basset short & sturdy stature (look at those front paws!!) with features of the Aussie, like the wonderfully soft coat and intelligent brown eyes. He is an affectionate cuddlebug and, though a little big to fit in your lap, will enjoy trying just the same. At 35 pounds he is sturdy enough to hold up to playful children but small enough to be a medium sized dog.
Teddy has a wonderfully happy and outgoing personality and is truly a people oriented dog. We are told he gets along with other dogs; however, he is currently being fostered as an only dog so this has not been tested. We also understand he gets along with cats. He loves to play with his soft squeaky toys, play fetch or entertain himself with a rawhide chewie. Mostly he just wants to be where his people are and is ready for any playtime or attention you want to give him ANYTIME! He has learned the joys of going for long walks, does well on a leash and will benefit from regular exercise to keep him fit and healthy. He is working on his basic commands, is house-trained, dog door trained and Poochie Bell trained (hanging bells on your doorknob signaling he wants to go out). He would make a great family dog with school aged children to romp and play or the pampered pet of an active retired couple who just want a unique companion to share the world with. He enjoys car rides though needs some assistance getting in (short legs are tough!!), sleeps in his own bed (does not need a crate) but would be happy to share yours. He has medium energy but high curiosity for the world around him (bunnies are a big favorite!).
Teddy is neutered, up to date on all shots, heartworm negative and on preventative. Micro-chipping will be done before adoption.
