Molly

Molly is a beautiful smaller dog. She is Cattle Dog / Dachshund as near as we can tell. Molly ran away from a very, very abusive home and was found hiding out at a golf course in Los Lunas. A kind soul fed her for several months through the winter until she had babies. She was so frightened that she was unapproachable. Unfortunately, all the babies died but one (and that one has been adopted and is in a wonderful home). The person who was her guardian was then able to catch her and bring her to the Valencia County Shelter where shelter staff appealed to rescues. We brought her home and, in spite of being paralyzed with fear, Molly is working hard to trust again. She has come a long way but still needs someone who is patient, very gentle, and is willing to take it slow while Molly blossoms.
Molly is gentle and very sweet tempered, even under stress. She is good with other dogs and cats. She appears to be house-trained. As she comes out of her shell even more, we expect this girl to be responsive, obedient, and affectionate. She probably will always harbor some fear of strange people and will need owners who are vigilant about not letting her run off in fear or escaping out the front door. Molly may turn out to be afraid of any but the most gentle of men. We can see a great potential for a sweetheart of a dog in Molly.
